1. JOHN7 BRENCHLEY (BARTHOLOMEW6, RICHARD5, JOHN4, JOHN3, WILLIAM2, RICHARD1) was born 21 Apr 1653 in Bredgar, and died 10 Jan 1740 in Charing. He married SUSAN WISE 7 Oct 1679 in Canterbury, daughter of THOMAS WISE and ELIZABETH WOODS. She was born in Kent, and died 14 Nov 1705 in Charing.

1] Parish register entry - married at St Mary Bredin, Canterbury.

2] John and Susan's marriage licence reads :- '7 die mont Octobris 1679 Coram. William Lovelace ------ Surro -------- Appeared personally John Brenchly of Charing in the Dioc of Cant. yeoman and a batchelor aged about 24 yeares, and alleageth yt he intendeth to marry with Susann Wise of ye same spinster whose ffather being dead her mother being hereunto freely consenting, And he made oath yt he knoweth of noe lawfull lett or impedmt by reason of any precontract consanguinuity affinity or otherwise to hinder the same and desires licence to be married in the parish church of St Mary Bredin Cant in the Dioces aforsd.

Notes for SUSAN WISE:

1] The Letters of Administration (dated 29 April 1680) of Susan's father, Thomas Wise, shows her as the wife of John Brenchley and receiving 26 shillings and threepence as her share in her father's estate. The Admon also gives her mother's name as Elizabeth Wise alias Woods (ie her previous and probably maiden name). CKS ref Prc 20/13/75
