Emma Gertrude was born Dec 1881 in Iowa. She was the daughter of Merritt Wisner and Ella Stephens.[1] She was know as Gertrude or Gracie.
In 1885 she was living in Lone Tree, Clay, Nebraska.[2] The household included Merritt Wisner age 29 born in Illinois, wife Ella Wisner age 32 born in Illinois, daughter Achla Wisner age 7 born in Iowa, daughter Gertrude Wisner age 4 born in Iowa, and daughter Lucy Wisner age 2 born in Iowa. Merritt was a farmer.
In 1900 she was living in Lone Tree Precinct, Clay, Nebraska.[3] The household included Merril M Wisner age 45 born in Illinois, wife Henrietta E Wisner age 52 born in Illinois, daughter Grace G Wisner age 20 born in Iowa, daughter Lucy E Wisner age 17 born in Iowa, daughter Carrie C Wisner age 15 born in Nebraska, daughter Maggie M Wisner age 13 born in Nebraska and servant Melvin Crawford age 16 born in Kansas. Merritt was a farmer. Henrietta was the mother of 1 child, living. Melvin was a farm laborer.
Grace G Wisner and James J Cleland were married about 1902.[4]
In 1910 she was living in Benson, Douglas, Nebraska.[5] The household included Roy S Culver age 25 born in Nebraska, wife Carrie C Culver age 24 born in Nebraska, daughter Leora V Culver age 2 born in Nebraska, sister-in-law Gertrude D Cleland age 29 born in Iowa and niece Louise L Cleland age 6 born in Iowa. Roy was a mechanic in a store repair house. Carrie was the mother of 1 child, living. Gertrude was widowed and was the mother of 1 child, living. Merritt and Henrietta Wisner lived next door.
In 1920 she was living in Fairbury, Jefferson, Nebraska.[6] The household included James G McFarlane age 40 born in Nebraska, wife Gertrude G McFarlane age 39 born in Iowa, son Cecil H McFarlane age 17 born in Nebraska, son John A McFarlane age 15 born in Nebraska, son Laurence J McFarlane age 13 born in Nebraska, daughter Alma McFarlane age 6 born in Nebraska, daughter Velva McFarlane age 4 born in Nebraska and stepdaughter Lois L Cleland age 16 born in Iowa. James was a dairy farmer. Lois was the only child that reported a mother born in Iowa.
In 1930 she was married, and a resident at Hastings State Hospital in Denver, Adams, Nebraska.[7] That same year James G McFarlane was living by himself, married and operating a retail grocery in Fairbury, Jefferson, Nebraska[8]
She died 13 Mar 1945.
She is buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska.[9]
