Biography

Fielding "Buddy" Wilder Wohrer was born on 2 Dec 1916 in his parents' home on N. Vernon Route 3 in Spencer Township, Jennings County Indiana, near Hayden. His sister Alice wrote that they were living in the "big house" - his grandparents former home - at that time. He was the son of Fielding Wohrer and Faye Wilder. The family moved to Illinois in late 1927. Buddy worked first in the Kane County Bank and Trust Company, then went into sales, which is how he was employed for the rest of his life.

Buddy married Eunice Burisch on 12 Feb 1943 at the Baptist Church in Plano Illinois. Buddy's brother in law Edward Yarnal was his best man. They made their first home in an apartment in St. Charles, then later bought a house in Geneva, where they raised two sons. Buddy died in the Vermillion County Hospital after suffering from a heart attack, just before he and Eunice were to move to their retirement home in San Bernardino.

Buddy loved sports and was a great singer.

Note: Buddy's Indiana birth certificate, which was filed six months after his birth, states his birthday was 3 December, not the 2nd. Family uses the 2nd, and that is what he reported on his WWII draft registration.
