Gideon was born about 1832 in Marion County, Arkansas. He was the son of Abraham Wood and Miriam Williams. About 1851, he married Lucinda LNU, who was near his age and also born in Arkansas. In 1862, he enlisted as a Private in an Arkansas Infantry Unit for a brief time. He passed away between 1862 and 1870, before he was 40 years of age.
