Biography
John was born in 1908, the third of four sons of James Wood and Mary Slatter.
On Nov 19, 1928, at the age of 20, he married in Valparaiso to Elsie Harder (1905-1960). They had no children together.
According to the 1950 US Census, his wife Elsie was enumerated in Logansport State Hospital, the state mental institution. John secured a divorce and on 7 April 1951, in Crown Point, Indiana, he remarried to Marguerite "Rita" Goodin.
John worked for duPont for 47 years, retiring with his wife Rita in Michigan City, Indiana. He died of heart disease at age 72, and was buried in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. When Rita died in 1988, she was buried by his side.
