Biography
Thirteenth of 17 children of Thomas Haskell Wood & Mary Amanda Demarest Wood. Occupation: Painter.
Married Wilhelmine "Minnie" Caroline Miller (1869-1918) on 2 July 1890 in Toledo, OH. Their 2 children were Charles Francis Elton Wood (1891-1951) and Minnie O Wood (1894-1895). Marion and his wife Minnie were among the organizers of the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, which met for the first time in their Toledo Home on Sunday, 8 April 1917.
Unfortunately, Minnie died on June 2, 1918 of epithelioma of the uterus (surgical shock contributing factor) and was buried in Detroit, MI.
Less than a year later, Marion married a widow, Johanna Hitzka Kachenmeister (1869-1928) on 12 March 1919.
Widowed again, he married Louisa Mary Schultz Wood (1860-1948), the widow of his brother Francis Ellery Wood, in 1934, a match proposed and approved by the family so the two wouldn't be alone.
He died at age 80 and was buried in Forest Cemetery in Toledo, OH, survived by his son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two sisters.
