Louisa Frances Woods was born on 1 July 1856 in Dickson, Tennessee, United States, the daughter of William Joseph Wood (1825–1894) and Elizabeth Burgess (1829–1891).

In 1870, Louisa F (15) lived with her family in Dickson, Tennessee, United States.[1]

Louisa married William Murphy in Dickson, Tennessee on 6 Sep 1870.[2] Louisa and William had at least five children:

  • Thydia Frances ( 1872-1930)
  • Mina Elizabeth (1875-1935)
  • Maggie Dora Murphy (1880–1957)
  • Cleveland T (1882-1961)
  • Willie Lee (1887-1950)

In 1880, Louisa Murphy (23), was a wife, Keeping House, in the household of William Murphy (31) in Civil District 8, Jackson, Tennessee, United States. [3]

In 1900, Louisa F Murphy (44) was a wife in the household of William Murphy (52) in Civil District 16, Montgomery, Tennessee, United States. [4]

In 1910, Lousie F Murphey (53), was a wife in the household of William C Murphey (61) in Civil District 16, Montgomery, Tennessee, United States. [5]

In 1920, Louisa Murphy (64), married, was the mother-in-law in the household of Charles Gray (38) (the husband of her daughter, Willie Lee) in Clarksville, Montgomery, Tennessee, United States. [6]

In the 1930 census, Louisa (age 73) was the widowed head of household in Clarksville, Montgomery, Tennessee, United States. Living with her were her widowed daughter, Willie Lee (Murphy) Gray, and her granddaughter, Lottie Frances Gray.[7]

Louisa died on 30 September 1932 in Montgomery at the age of 76. She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee.[8] [9]
