Ensign Oliver Work served with 18th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.
Oliver Work was born January 8, 1746, in Upton, Massachusetts, a son of Samuel and Mary Work.

Oliver served as an Ensign in Captain Jacob Miller's Company , Col. Ephraim Doolittle's regt. from April through 1775, during the American Revolutionary War.

He also became an Assessor, in Royalston, where he lived until he died in 1793. Oliver is honored for his military and civil service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A130467.
Oliver's first wife was Sarah Hemenway, who he married, on August 24, 1780, in Royalston, Worcester county, Massachusetts.

Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their son, John Work, who married Lucy Wright. Oliver and Sarah were the parents of at least one other child, Luther Work, born December 19, 1785, in Royalston.

Sarah (Hemenway Work died, and is buried in the Old Centre Cemtery, in Royalston, Worcester county, Massachsuetts. DAR records indicate that Oliver married secondly, Hannah Cutler, who he married February 12, 1789, in Royalston.

Hannah was born April 25, 1768, in Royalston, a daughter of Jonathan Cutler and Elizabeth Holman.

Oliver Work died May 12, 1793

and is buried in the Old Centre Cemetery, in Royalston, Worcester county, Massachusetts, with his first wife. His Find A Grave memorial indicates that he achieved the rank of Lieutenant.
