OBITUARY. (1902, October 7). Wagga Wagga Express (NSW : 1879 - 1917), p. 2. Retrieved November 11, 2021, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article145485367 OBITUARY. MR. E. WRIGHT. A well-known resident of the Rock district in the person of Mr. Edward Wright passed away at Wagga at mid-day on Sunday. The deceased gentleman, who was 56 years of age, was born at Tasmania. Early in life he left his native place for Gippsland (Vic), where he remained for many years, eventually leaving the sister State and taking up his residence at Germanton. 17 years ago he settled at Tootal, seven miles from the Rock, and carried on the business of a farmer and grazier ever since. During the past year he was found to be suffering with cancer in the tongue, and immediately placed himself under different medical men, eventually coming to Wagga. Every step was taken to counteract the terrible affliction, which the deceased bore with a wonderful fortitude, but without avail. His death took place at the residence of Mr. C. Inglis, Gurwood-street, and was one of the most peaceful. Deceased leaves four sons and four daughters, who, with the exception of one son and two married daughters residing at Gippsland, live at the Rock. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at three o'clock, the remains being interred in the Church of England section of the Wagga Cemetery. Rev. A. C. Mosley conducted the service. Messrs. Hoye and Colbeck were the funeral directors.
