Biography

Charles Austin Wroth born on 31 January 1873 at Dunwell, Ugborough. He married Sarah Kate or Kate Hooppell, born at Bigbury, daughter of Benjamin Hooppell and Frances Mary (Fanny) Crimp, on 12 April 1898 in Bigbury Church. Witnesses were John D Sparrow and Hilda Heath. In 1901 Charles A Wroth 28 from Ugborough was a farmer at Dunvill, Ugborough with Kate 24, aunt Mary E Wroth 66 widow from Ringmore, son Charles Wroth 22 (should be 2) and a servant. In 1911 Charles Austin Wroth 38 farmer born ar Dunwell, IvyBridge, was living there with his wife of 12 years Sarah Kate 34 and his mother Mary Emma Wroth 76 a widow of independent means born at Langston. Charles the son 11 was a boarder at school in Kingsbridge. Charles was a farmer and landed proprietor at Haredon, Ugborough from 1896 to 16 April 1912 when he died. Kate died 1 June 1958 in Modbury age 81 [MI]
