Biography

Baptism record reports DOB as 27 Apr 1883, Rock Township, Pipestone, MN. However, this must be baptism date, as he self-reports 20 May 1882 on his draft registrations.

Marriage: from the San Juan Prospecctor (online), 22 June 1907:

A double wedding occurred at the Methodist parsonage in our city last Wednesday afternoon when Reverend Kendall United in the Holy bonds of matrimony Mr. Clinton J Wiley and Miss Ethel Watson and Mr. Glenn Watson and Miss Julia D Anderson. All these young people are from Monta Vista.

Various mentions in the Monte Vista Journal (via chroniclingamerica) as follows:

4 Dec 1909: "Donald Gove has bought out Clint Wyley in the Grand Union store and the new firm is Karr and Gove."

29 Jan 1910: "Clint Wyley and family returned from Kansas Wednesday morning, where they went some nine months ago with the intention of locating

15 Apr 1911: He placed a small ad for the sale of 100 sacks of seed potatoes, "russets and Brown Beauties". Interested parties were to see him at "the mill."

9 Aug 1913: "Clint Wyley and family have returned home from Villa Grove where Mr. Wyley has completed a big job of painting."

27 Sep 1913: See accompanying photo of the bear hunt.

23 May 1914: He placed a small ad in the MV Journal, a card of thanks for well-wishers on the death of his mother. It includes his name and also his sisters Gertrude B (Wyley) Thrasher (1870-1942) and Floss Pearl (Wyley) Roark (1890-1948), who was Mrs. Claud Loser at the time.

30 May 1914: "Clint Wyley has contracts for about six weeks of painting work at La Jara, to which place he went last week."



His WWII draft registration reports a slight limp on account of crippled foot.

His wife Ethel's diary records for 8 October 1939: "Bill [Barger] and Clint started for Kentucky this morning at 15 to 7. They are going to bring Leona and the children home." They returned to Monte Vista on 14 October 1939.
