Alvin Edwin Wyman died on August 30, 2019. He was born to Lilian McAuley and John Wyman Jr on December 21, 1930 in Barre, Massachusetts. He lived with his wife of over 40 years, Jane Sjostrom in Arlington, then Sterling, VA.
He entered the Air Force in 1951 and served during the Korean War. Dr. Wyman was a decorated hero, earning a Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a Life member of the Korean War Veterans, Disabled Veterans, Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Dr. Wyman earned two Masters’ degrees as well as a Doctorate in International Finance. He served in many government positions, including Financial Manager for the Army Corp of Engineers.
Dr. Wyman’s life included a variety of volunteer service positions. He took great joy in entertaining children and raising funds for many charitable causes. His Masonic history included Life Member and Master of the Sharon Lodge 327 in McLean, VA. He was also a Life member of the Kena Shriners in Fairfax, VA.
Wine Tasting and growing prized roses were but a few of Dr. Wyman’s passions. He also enjoyed raising and training dogs, travel and fishing. He was a talented photographer and chronicled his trips and activities throughout his life.
Dr. Wyman will be interned at the Quantico National Cemetery.
