Biography

Jacob Yager has German Roots.
Jacob was engaged in farming in Michigan

Jacob was born about 1834 in Upper Canada. He was the son of Christopher Yager and Catharine Kerstetter.

In 1870, Jacob was a farmer in Mussey, St. Clair County, Michigan, with his wife Emma, and their children. His land was valued at $1,000, and his personal estate at $100. [1] Emma passed away in 1870, at the age of 31. [2]

In 1871, Jacob married Martha Shoesmith Smith. [3] A daughter named Lida, born to Jacob and Martha in 1873, passed away in 1874. [4] By 1880, Jacob was a farmer in Maple Valley, Sanilac County, Michigan. He and Martha lived with his two youngest children (born to Emma), named Emma Angelina and William Henry. [5] [6] A daughter named Jacoba was born in 1886. [7]

Jacob was a widower, living with his daughter Emma's family in Niagara, Marinette, Wisconsin in 1920.[8] He was not a member of their household in 1910 [9] or in 1930. [10]

Research Notes

Find A Grave memorial number 141801471 states that Jacob died 14 Nov 1925 in Niagara Falls, New York, USA. A source has not been found that confirms this date of death or location. Because the US Census documents that Jacob was living in Niagara, Wisconsin, in 1920, there is concern that the FAG record might have confused the two Niagara locations.
