Matilda Yancey was born January 26, 1805, which is on her gravestone). Her parents are Austin Yancey and Maria Myra Gibbs

Matilda married a widower, William Stevens (Roswell Jr.'s brother) on August 6, 1852 in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, and never had any children. Although she did nurture some of his children by a previous marriage.

She died February 5, 1875 at Holden, Millard County, Utah.
