Catherine's family emigrated with a number of other Amish emigrants aboard the Francis and Elizabeth from Rotterdam (via Deal, in England), arriving in Philadelphia on 21 Sep 1742. Catherine's father's (believed to have been brother to Christian Shirk, b.c.1700, who emigrated at the same time) died on the voyage, and Catherine's mother arrived in the country a widow with nine children.[1]
Catherine married Isaac Kauffman, and died before 1790.[1]
