Biography

William Earl "Bill" Young was born in 1921 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, the son of Earl Joseph Young (1885-1947) and Helen "Nellie" O'Donnell (1886- ).[1]

In 1940 William, age 18, lives in Glencoe, Cook County, Illinois with his divorced mother Helen Young, age 50.

William, a 20 year old student at Northwestern University, enlisted 18 Jun 1942 for WWII, a private in the Air Corps.[2]

Bill married Katherine Elizabeth Kassel (1926–2003) on 7 Oct 1946 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Their children were:

  1. Sandra (Young) Hubbard
  2. Jennifer (Young) Dodson (b. 4/03/1951- )
  3. Kara (Young) Fitting (b. 12/01/1961- )

Bill, a resident of Aurora, Kane County, Illinois, passed away at age 84 in 2005 at Provena Geneva Care Facility in Geneva, Kane County, Illinois.[3]

Obituary from findagrave: "William Young, age 84, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Provena Geneva Care Facility. He was born July 12, 1921 in Chicago, IL to Earl and Helen Young. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He worked as Director of Special Education for DuPage County until he retired in 1980. He is survived by his children, Sandra (Bill) Hubbard, Jennifer (Daniel) Dodson, and Kara (Lou) Fitting; his grandchildren, David (Pamela) Dodson, Michael (Krysten) Dodson, Bridget Hubbard, Matthew Fitting, Joshua Fitting and Alyssa Fitting; four great-grandchildren, Derek and Katelyn Dodson, Alexis Dodson and Leilani Fitting.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Katharine; and a sister, Mary Moore. Funeral Service will be private."
