Lewis Howerton Youngblood Jr., (17 Jan 1920 - 7 Oct 2008) Age 88
He was the son of Lewis Howerton Youngblood Sr., (5 Nov. 1890 - 25 Nov 1953) and Lillie H. Moore Youngblood, (27 Sept 1893 - 10 Mar 1973).
On 2 Oct 1952 at Sherbourne Avenue Methodist Church in Chesterfield County, Virginia, the Rev. Eugene Wright officiated the wedding ceremony of Major Lewis Howerton Youngblood Jr. to Elizabeth Franklin Walker, daughter of Harold Walker and Della Paulett.

Youngblood, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Lewis H. Jr., 88, of Midlothian, Virginia, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis H. Youngblood and Lillie Moore Youngblood, of Petersburg, Virginia. After a public school education in the Petersburg schools, he graduated from Virginia Tech in 1942 with a B.S. in business and was a proud Hokie fan. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he served for 28 years in the Quartermaster Corps, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served 38 months in the European Theater and 24 months in the Korean War. Upon retirement from the U.S. Army, Lt. Col. Youngblood enjoyed a second career at Wheat First Securities after attending the New York Institute of Finance in 1969. He retired as a senior vice president with 20 years of service. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Petersburg, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Walker Youngblood, who provided tremendous care and support at home throughout his illness. He is also survived by three children, Mary Taylor and husband, Harry, of Chesterfield, Virginia, Susan Kerr and husband, Robert, of Warsaw, Illinois and Lewis H. Youngblood III and wife, Camille, of Hanover, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Heather Thornsvard Carpenter and husband, Randolph, Brandon Thornsvard and wife, Melissa, Robert Kerr, Ryan Kerr, Lauren Kerr, Miles Youngblood, and Ava Youngblood; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Carpenter and Hannah Carpenter. With the excellent home care and valuable companionship of Mary Jackson, Valencia Valentine, and Robert Bolding, Lt. Col. Youngblood was able to remain at home during his declining years. Funeral arrangements with military honors will be handled by Bennett Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia, on Saturday, October 11, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Dawson officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Brandermill Woods Retirement Center reception room at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
