Biography

Margaret was born in 1841, the daughter of Samuel Zellers (1809-1871) and Susanna Stout (1815-1877).

She married John Wesley Orwig, a Civil War veteran who became a dentist, in 1868. They had three daughters:

Lillian Susannah, b 11 Jan 1869, m Henry Harter

Miriam Ellen m. George Washington Wagenseller

Infant daughter b 23 Feb 1883 d 26 Feb 1883

In the 1900 census she is recorded as having had 3 children, 2 still living. There are two grandsons, Wilmer and Brison Potter, living with them. ^[1]

She passed away in 1915 and is buried in Mifflinburg Cemetery.

Research Notes

FS has different parents linked to "Margaut Zellars" - George and Margaret. Wagenseller has Samuel and Susanna as her parents, and Margaret Orwig was his mother-in-law, so presumably he was careful to be accurate. I wonder if there is another Margaret Zellers who was married to Daniel Miller? The 1900 census with grandsons "Potter" living with them was perhaps referring to Harter?
