Bernhardt Zimmerman was described as a citizen of Hunspach in records of the Hunspach Reformed Church at the 1734 confirmation of his daughter Anna Barbara. On April 18, 1741, he was described as "the late Bernhardt Zimmerman" in the church's marriage record for Barbara and Philip Jacob Lehman.
