Biography

Mary (Zouch) Weston was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

Mary Elizabeth Zouch was born in 1887 in Berrima, New South Wales (Australia). She was the eldest child of Richard Zouch and Emily Throsby. [1] By 1890 the family moved to Argyle and then Goulburn in southern New South Wales. By about 1905 they had settled on land near Nimbin, in the State's far north.

Mary married Reverend Arthur Weston on 28th January 1925 in St Stephen's Church of England (now Anglican Church), Willoughby, New South Wales. [2]

"The marriage was celebrated on January 28, at St. Stephen's Church of England, Willoughby, of Miss Mary Zouche, eldest daughter of Mrs. M. E. Zouche, of Chatswood, and the late Captain R. E. Zouche, D.S.O., to Rev. Arthur Weston, of Parkes, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Weston, of Gilgandra. The Bishop of Bathurst (Right Rev. Dr. G. M. Long) officiated.
"The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Henry Zouche, was gowned in blue embossed morocaln, and carried a sheath of salmon pink gladioli. Miss Bright Zouche attended her sister as bridesmaid, and wore apricot ninon. Her bouquet was of copper-colourod roses, tied with brown tulle. Mr. Albert White was best man. The reception was held at Selkirk, Havilan street, Chatswood, the home of the bride's mother, who was gowned in grey beaded morocaln, and carried a posy of red roses. Rev. and Mrs, Weston left later for Austinmer, the bride travelling in a frock of brown embroidered morocain, with a hat to tone, trimmed with shaded wallflower. [3]

The New South Wales electoral rolls indicate that in 1930 the couple were residing in the Rectory, Hill Street, Parkes and that Mary worked at home duties. [4]

Six years later they appear on the electoral roll living at 14 Brillant Street, Bathurst, Mary still working at home duties. [5]

Aged seventy years, Mary passed away on 27th February 1958 in Adelaide and is buried in North Road Cemetery, Anglican Section, Nailsworth, South Australia. [6] She was survived by Arthur, who passed in 1971 back in Sydney's northern suburbs.
