Amanda was born Jan 1839 to William Beller and his wife in Carroll County, Arkansas. Both of her parents die prior to 1850 and she then resides with her elder sister Martha and brother-in-law Garret Greer. A question surrounds her mother as it is not clear if Martha (Wilburn) Beller who married William Beller ca 1821 in Alabama is the same person as Lovina Beller, the recorded spouse of William who died 1850 in Arkansas (see Martha's profile for details).
Amanda married twice:
Silas M Baker 1840–1860, married about 1857, who died April 1860 of a gun shot wound. His death was recorded on the 1860 Carroll County, Arkansas Mortality Schedule. It says he was 19 years old, b. Alabama, married, a farmer and died after being ill for 12 days due to being shot. Amanda and her children are then listed on the 1860 Carroll County, Arkansas census living next door to her widowed mother-in-law (Mary Baker). Children of Amanda and Silas:
Sariah A. Baker 1858–1860
John G. Baker 1860–?
Silas Baker Jr (Unconfirmed)
William Byrd DeShazo1843–1889 married about 1865 Carroll, Arkansas. Their life in Arkansas from 1865 to the end of the 1870s is found using Boone County, Arkansas land records. They then moved to Texas about 1880 where the census records resume in 1900. Children of Amanda and William:
William T. DeShazo 1868–1913
Mildred Ann DeShazo 1869–1960
Nancy L DeShazo 1871–1949
Lula Victoria DeShazo 1872–1953
Dama or Damie DeShazo 1880–1945
Amanda Melvina DeShazo 1882–1952
Amanda DeShazo died 28 Jan 1923 in Eastland, Eastland County, Texas.
