Thank you for "Frazier." I know that very few use middle names. I tried Bill for some 10 years, 9th grade - 2 years of college - and the Navy. Since 1971, it's been Frazier.

Absolutely, Frazier. While not as unusual as using the middle name, my non-standard spelling of Debi causes the same things. I'm always please when people notice and use my preferred spelling.

Hi... Hope you are keeping safe. I have been working in Roberts, Bullitt and associated families. I have a fair knowledge of the many famous people my family has and I am working on a book. And sort of using Wiki and Ancestry.com to help me along.... I was happy to see your comment on a great.....grandfather on my mother's side.... Richard Stockton, Patriot. Here is the unproven story, it could have happened. I hope you can LOL.

The Brinley family, from way back, were Loyalists and originally were from the Newport/Boston area. But when the Monmouth Patent came about by Charles II, younger sons moved to other locations. Francis had a son that went to Monmouth and a few of the Sylvesters of Shelter Island (Nathaniel married Grissell Brinley, dau. of Thomas, King's Auditor). So, when the revolution came along, there were many Brinley Loyalists/Royalists in the Perth Amboy/Monmouth area. Richard Stockton and family were in Princeton, NJ...

If you go to the Bio on the Honorable Richard Stockton, you will see that he took his family to his sister's house in Perth Amboy, Monmouth for safety. He was captured by Loyalists/Royalists (Some might have been Brinley's) and handed over to the British. Who put him in jail. So, one side of my family were the good guys, Patriots, and the other were bad guys, Loyalists. I see a problem, how do I end it ? LOL

Frazier ps if I realize that someone else has a number for an ancestor, how do I fix it without dumping what I have done?

Great story about your Brinley family, Frazier. I would have known you were from the USA, even if I hadn't read your bio earlier, since the Patriot side are the good guys in your story *grin* I don't have any info that can help in confirming the story. I'm currently trying to prove my connection to the family much further down the line (early 1800s in North Carolina).

If I understand your ps question correctly, you have accidentally created a duplicate profile with a higher number than the original. If I have that correct, the two profile need to be merged (keeping the lower number). When the merge is done, the person completing the merge will chose the information that has the best sources for the datafields and the biography space will be merged together. Nothing should be lost as it is done and the Change Logs can be used to retrieve anything which doesn't get included. The Profile Managers of the two original profiles will be co-managers of the resulting profile. You can read more about the process in the Merging FAQ.

Hi, 1) What Info are you looking for in North Carolina? 2) Your maiden name is really close to a distant cousin that I helped and researched in the late '80s and '90s; At that time, I was unaware that we were related. I handed everything over to her: Frances Hitchcock (Magee) Gilman, she died in 2005 in New Jersey. Another story, another time. 3) There was another Frazier Brindley (d in the name). I have been working to find a connection to the family of Betty Jane (Brindley) Chalfant. I think that just in the last few months a breakthrough happened with a Stephen Brindley who came to South Carolina around 1800 from England. Betty Jane lives just South of Nashville. There is a Brindley Family Association in Culman, Alabama... Betty Jane is president. There is a book "Brindley Mountain." Worth a read, could have been any place. Have a good day. The evidence I'm looking for at this point is that Silas Benjamin Shinn-290 of North Carolina was the son of Silas Shinn-32 who was from New Jersey and is said to have migrated with his father to North Carolina. There is no evidence on either profile for those connections.

I have spent a number of days really being hot. First, I have not tackled the merger. I think it is with the Roberts/Bullitt family... But I have been working to correct a number of errors made by possibly me and others. Catherine Hutchinson Brinley (Brinley-44) b. 1840 and (Brinley-85) b.1806. Her, Brinley-44, father is George, Jr (Brinley-82) The siblings are part of the problem. And then, I tried to add a few pictures, family heirlooms/pictures/portraits and copy and I stopped. Most copyrights are for pictures taken after 1923. Copyrights normally do not take into effect for scanned pictures. When I wrote a short history of the Conn. American Legion for 2019 and did 4 years of calendars for the centennial. I went through the Library of Congress for a few and they informed me about the 1923 rule. There were some restrictions: Boys' Scouts of America being one. Now my family pictures, where did they get copies? Possibly from scanned books. George Brinley-82 was a print and I thought that I had the only copy. Obviously, I was wrong, since I saw the same one on Find A Grave. Maybe it was in a pamphlet on his life... maybe the Watkinson (Trinity) Library (Hartford, Conn.) book or Yale... Hope you are well. Hope you are not in harm's way. Frazier

My sister Helen gave me an update on her bio and I substituted the bio I did on her... for her bio.

I coming to you for help with a family member. I've added most of the material on an uncle: William Christian Bullitt, first Ambassador to Russia. He was b. 25 Jan 1891 in Philadelphia, Pa and died 15 Feb. 1967. He is buried in Woodlands Cemetery, Phila., Pa. My mother and sister attended his funeral. He married twice 1) Ernesta Drinker (m.1916-1923. They had a son in 1917, who died 2 days after birth, 2) Louise Bryant, journalist (m.1924-30). They had one dau. Anne Moen Bullitt. His name and first wife's name and dates have been changed. and the ripple affect. I thought about taking all the material out.. Frustrated. Try: Bullitt-137.

Hi Frazier,

I can understand the frustration. Matthew is fairly new and had mistakenly connected the profile of William as father to his father (aka his grandfather). When he realized the mistake, rather than disconnecting the wrong person, he changed it to be who he wanted it to be. It is the nature of a Wiki that this kind of thing will happen occasionally and is why the change logs exist.

It's going to take some work to get it fixed. Here is what needs to happen:

• Create a profile for Matthew's grandfather
• Matthew's grandmother needs to be connected to the new grandfather profile
• The profiles of Matthew's father and aunt need to be connected to the new grandfather profile
• William's profile needs to be restored to its previous state
• Matthew's grandmother needs to be disconnected from William's profile

Since there are so many moving parts to these, would you like me to work on it or would you like to learn how?
