William HICKOX was born calculated 1672. He died 4 Nov 1737 in Waterbury, New Haven, CT. William married Rebeckah ANDRUS calculated 1696.
William was a proprietor and a man of note, grand juror on school committee, a surveyor, a constable, selectman many times, and a deputy in 1728. In 1727 he was captain and was always know thereafter as Captain. He lived where the First Congregational Church now stands. (from privately published book) "American Families" page, 366.
He lost 3 sons, William, Abraham and John, to the "great Sickness of 1713" (measles epidemic).
His Will includes among his effects: "Lewis, a negro man at 140 (pounds) and Fillis, a negro woman at 100 (pounds).". page 150 The History of Waterbury Connecticut by Henry Bronson

1737 was a year of severe influenza. Sadly I only see a death listed for William. Do you have any additional references to update her date of death? 1713 was a previous of influenza, as they lost three of their six children who were 14,9, and 7 years old that spring.
