Wikitree Roll of Honor

August was born in October, 24, 1933 to parents Bernard Leo Lock and Anthone Etta Hoffman Lock in Koeltztown, Missouri, United States. He was named for his grandfather, August Lock. Research shows his middle name to be that of his paternal uncle Lawrence M Lock, the brother of Gus's father, Bernard Leo Lock. Gus never learned to swim, and his relatives threw him in the river once to force him to swim. Result- Gus sank[1] Gus was of the Catholic faith. A search of Saints shows his grandfather may have been named for Saint Augustine, since many Catholics receive a confirmation name which comes from a Saint which could explain how his grandfather was named this.

Sibs of August L Lock were 4 sisters and a younger brother: Robertha, Lillian, Pauline, Leona , Ralph Lock (living).

The 1940 US Census shows August and family in Jackson, Maries, Missouri, USA when Gus was 6 years old with 4 sisters. [2] [3] First Grade. [4]

1950 Census shows Gus working at a saw mill in Washington Township, Osage, Missouri, United States. [4]

One example was painting the Mississippi River Bridge. This involved removing the old paint, which had bird droppings on it before painting. Gus contracted bird flu from that work. [34]He made many friends. Gus talked about the many events of his life and his marriage to Lucille. Some events cannot be proven with sources Richardson-7161 22:36, 4 July 2023 (UTC).

Just heal for awhile and down the road you can update his profile (if you feel the need to) with some distance from the fresh wound to your heart. Take care and God bless.

I am blessed that you caught the red Categories. i couldn't correct Category: Navy and Marine then suddenly saw it should have been United Nations Service Medal. Now all are black.

Thank you many many times. I was too close to this man to write the profile, I think. AND I couldn't find decent sources, and had to use Ancestry.com, which I hate to do..

Hollar if you see anything else.
