Biography

Cornelius Herbert Longstreet, b. 11 Oct 1831, was the first child of Laura (Breed) Longstreet (1806-1876) & James Oliver Longstreet (1806-1873) ^[1].

He married 03 May 1854 Esther Jane Satterly (1831 - 1919). They had 3 children:

1. Cora Elizabeth Longstreet, b. 27 Feb 1856; married Frank S. Burt
2. Carrie Longstreet (1858–1900); married Edgar House Andrews
3. Herbert C. Longstreet, b. 18 Jan 1886

This family was enumerated in census records of Onondaga Township, Onondaga County, New York ^[2],^[3],^[4],^[5],^[6].

According to his online memorial site, "Cornelius H. Longstreet and his family became permanent residents of Mount Dora [Florida] in 1888. He was in the citrus and beekeeping businesses." This is corroborated with the 1900 U.S. census of Mt. Dora ^[7].

Cornelius Herbert Longstreet died 26 Mar 1901 at Mount Dora, Florida. His grave probably is in Pine Forest Cemetery, Mount Dora, Lake County, Florida, USA ^[8]. An honorary cenotaph is present in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, USA ^[9].
