I have been working on my genealogy since before Ancestry.com existed. From an early age my grandmother taught me the importance of evaluating sources. I spent my summers with her in the Carthage courthouse in Moore County, NC, combing over records in the Register of Deeds office. Sources are very important to me - and I want them all!
Every source, primary through family legend, adds value. I believe the truth can be found somewhere between the record and the rumor. There is a reason the rumor began and it influenced the lives of family members. But I don't consider the interpretation valid unless it is justified with sources and accompanied by usable citation.
My families are primarily in Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee. My husband's family is from Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. I will be adding our tree, which is currently on Ancestry.com, over the next few weeks. Expect to see a skeleton tree in the beginning. I will be adding full biographies and sources for the deceased ancestors once the frame is complete.
We are very interested in genetic genealogy, as well. If you see a possible connection on the tree and would like to verify through DNA, please send me a private message and I will be happy to EXCHANGE kit numbers for GedMatch.com. We have kits at 23andMe and Ancestry.com.
