Hello DD Admin,

Just flagging a minor typo on this page in Description of Error header, as it states 602 instead of 632. Likely a copy/paste issue during construction from using 602 identical info.

Take care and thank you for all your do to keep the DD project humming along.

That is exactly what happened. Thank you - corrected.

"Shouldn't it ...". No, that's what the abbreviation means, but the abbreviation is part of the name. It's not different from spelling for example "St. Louis, Missouri" like that. Yes, what most do is to follow the bogus rule by writing out "Sankt". But still wanted to point out that it's a bad rule. (And of course there would be no technical problems.)

On wikiTree we try to avoid abbreviations. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Location_Fields#Location_Field_Style_Guide This is not absolute rule, but the suggestions are designed to get us there (eventually).

As for technical problems, try to search google for S:t I didn't get any desired result. Maybe it works better in Sweden, but it doesn't in Slovenia. It is slightly better on WT+, but still many false matches. https://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=S%3At

But as I said before, you should discuss this in the project and we can make an exception if really needed. I checked the locations on WikiTree and s:t is used 190 times. Some are for Finland and some for Sweden. and for many, the country is not clear.

"we try to avoid abbreviations" : That's why I compared with the city "St. Louis" which also is a placename that has a similar abbreviation in its name. Do you seriously think that the spelling "St. Louis" should be avoided for that city in Wikitree because of that style guide? That's the official spelling in the city charter and the Missouri constitution (according to discussion at https://www.reddit.com/r/StLouis/comments/a4i2y6/st_louis_vs_saint_louis/ where some people complain about some web forms where they have to mangle their city's name).

Maybe not needed for the US, but for example when writing names of Swedish parishes like "S:t Johannes församling".

Shouldn't it be spelled out as Sankt? Ask in Sweden project how you will deal with such locations. There was no official request for such spelling of the location. It could be possible to use s:t but it can cause a lot of technical problems.
