I didn't know much about my THOMPSON Line when I started collecting documents around 1997. 20 Years later, I have accumulated a lot of information on my Line as well as other Thompson Families but I've run into a Brick Wall with my GG Grandfather, Martin Thompson's true origin, where exactly he was born, who his parents were, are there any siblings and the "conflicting" information over whom he really married.
Was it Catherine Polk Knox?? Or was it Katherine Waldrop from Rutherford, NC ?? If you are interested in seeing my research findings, let me know. I think I have the answer.... and it's "WALDROP"......
Over time I increased the # of branches from my Tree and have a lot of family Names I had never heard before when I was growing up such as Y-DNA67 2-Step matches GARRETT & WILSON or changing my family history to show Martin Thompson married a WALDROP (and it's var of spelling), ELLIS, HENDERSON, CALLIHAN / CALLIHAM, RALLS, WEBB, HUNT, and many others.
I've had my Autosomal DNA tested at Ancestry.com and I became intrigued with that part of the "new" genealogy way of doing things and dug in more having my Y-DNA67 tested at FamilyTreeDNA.com. I've also had my HAPLO Group confirmed down to R-DF63 which is a branch of the "R1b-L21" Group. It appears my true origins are isolated more to the British Isles. R-DF63 also appears to be a "minority" subclade group in the big picture of the R1b-L21 group... Go figure... hahaha but that's my luck!! I like to use my DNA information more to "Eliminate" potential connections than I do to establish. If they don't match, they don't match and I move on.
However, I've learned the "DNA Way" (if you will) and though i'm not an expert by any means, I am well educated now on "how" to properly utilize DNA to establish and trace. I also encompass many tools in the process which help me narrow a DNA Relationship.
Through my time of tracking Ancestors, the most important thing I have learned is that without some sort of documentation, pictures, etc., a new family connection is merely a "fabrication" at best. I'm not saying that my Family Tree doesn't contain errors as I'm sure it contains many but I can safely say that the majority of my Tree will have documentation of some sort backing up the connection and my findings.
If you have a question, a correction to my Tree, or something to discuss, please feel free to contact me.
I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.
It looks like the Virginia Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

I took care of merging the two Judith's, daughter of Richard and Judith Hunt.
If we could get the Judith's (including the Vesey one) - wife of Richard merged that would be great. I can do the clean-up after the merges.
I can also do the merges myself later today or over the weekend if you and Jerry prefer.
Have you checked out the new Bermuda Project yet?

I have seen no other project associated with any of the profiles of the Hunt family or on other satellite profiles associated with it. I am pre-1700 certified. I am also a leader of the Southern Colonies project to which these profiles would belong for this time frame (part of the Carolina's or Virginia) I will gladly Protect all the associated profiles with the lowest #ID for correct LNAB.
The merges have not been proposed lightly. The research done supports the need for the merges. These merges should go through to achieve this clean-up of these profiles.
If you have any questions or need any further information regarding pre-1700 certification or projects here on WikiTree I would be happy to answer them.
