Many States have established their own guidelines in determining who can be or is classified as whatever early settler term they use. In those States, I believe it is WikiTree policy to follow guides established by the State. Ohio is one such state.

Each state has one or more "Lineage Societies" that set their standards for "Early Settlers".

If you are looking for information for Ohio then Google "lineage society Ohio" you should get links to pages that can help you.
