Relative possibly Cherokee.?

The family says we have a great grandmother who sat in the rocker smoking a pipe. Lived in Ohio named GOLDIE I JANE'S.,   Supposedly she was 100% Cherokee the problem is I do not know how to find out.

Her father was JOHN JANES. I am not at home where I have her D.O.B. if you ask later I will have more details.

I did not find anything about Cherokee ancestry, but I did find a source for the marriage of Carl and Goldie.  Her birth year is 1898 according to this source.

A good way to find out is to look at census records. She is consistently listed as white, as are both of her parents. Like so many of these claims of Cherokee ancestry, including a few in my own family, it should be taken with a very large grain of salt.
