Wrong use of LNAB Partner?

I am just about to start adding a family who have the surname Partner. In checking existing profiles before creating any new, I came across 6 profiles with the name "Unknown Partner". A quick glance at them suggests that for some of them partner has been used in the relationship sense of the word rather than as a real surname. Looks as though there may be a job to do in checking for sources and correcting LNAB here.

Anyone interested in tackling these? I am trying not to let myself get sidetracked from adding real Partner folks.

Isn't there some sort of "disputed..." template you could add to the profiles to help track them?

Thanks for the suggestion Dennis. I just took a quick look so I have not yet done enough work to be able to conclude they are disputed.

You could create Category: Partner Needs LNAB and add https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Needs_LNAB as a parent category. Then when you find one of these, place it in this new maintenance category.

Thanks for the suggestion Ellen. That sounds like a good solution if I get time to go back to analyse them more closely.

I'm happy to take a look. I noticed the first one has relatives that don't have the bio/source sections in the bio so will add them and source and then work backwards from there.

Thanks Michelle. Would be great if you could if you have time. I just wanted to get them on the radar so they would not be forgotten and I would avoid falling down a rabbit hole that could distract me from adding real Partners. Much appreciated.
OK... looks like the first one isn't really Unkown "partner. His wife had been entered without bio/source section and without a birth or death date, so was an "open" profile. As soon as I sourced her and added the 1940 census, then added her birth year/place, she automatically changed from open to closed and her husband went from Unknown Partner (with no birth/death details) to "Unknown Fortner"
Actually it probably said unknown Fortner to start with and I'm just word blind lol...well I sourced a couple of profiles in the process!
If you search on Unknown Partner there are both Partner and Fortner that come up. The ones that are the potential problem are those that have LNAB Partner, rather than Fortner. I think the Fortner ones are more likely to be Fortners under further investigation. The Partners seem to include folks that may not have surname Partner but where a relationship in the name field has been imported from a gedcom.

Yep you are right, I just didn't notice it said Fortner not Partner when I started looking into it!

the second one (Partner-6I adopted and will change to Unknown Unknown, as it looks like an unknown father of an illegitimate child born several years after his mother's husband died..and unless there is a bastardy bond, it is unlikely the father's name will become known.

I really appreciate your help here Michelle. While you have been trying to make sense of this mangled bunch of partners I have had time to add two real Partners with their spouses and cook my dinner :)
Well, that is one messed up branch of the wiki-tree which I will need to go back to at some point and try to make it easier to read without all the gedcom garbage!
I have a gut feeling that they could all be from the same gedcom import, and probably all unknown fathers of illegitimate children that have been imported as spouses of the mother.
Ouch. I realised they were a potential mess when I took a quick squint, but didn’t go far enough into any of them to realise how bad.
I've dealt with the ones that were adoptable - I'll contact the PMs of the other ones tomorrow
Great. Thanks a lot.
