Danube Swabians are southern Germans and Austrians, primarily Roman Catholic, who were brought into the Kingdom of Hungary (Hungary, Croatia, northern Serbia, Transylvania, Slovakia) along the Danube River by the Austrian Hapsburgs Monarchy and Hungarian aristocracy to settle lands depopulated by the Ottoman Turks during their 150 occupation of the Kingdom of Hungary. Hungary was incorporated into the Austrian Empire which later became Austro-Hungary. [edit]

My father's family were Danube Swabians who mostly emigrated ca: 1900 to the US from the Batschka region of Serbia (then Austria-Hungary). I'd love to collaborate with anyone researching that region or the Danube_Swabians [edit]

My paternal Schneberger Schneeberger line lived in Herczegfalva Hercegfalva (now Mezofalva ), Fejer County, Hungary. I would also like to find out where in Germany they came from. [edit]
