He married Amica Pembrugge and their children were:[1]
John de Hopton, Knight, adult by 1370 (son and heir of John de Hopton by Alice le Strange), married before 1370 Isabel Burley, daughter of John Burley, K.G. of Birley, Herefordshire. [2]
Marriage and Children
Married: Amice Pembrugge about 1350.
Sir Richard Burley. Born say 1353 (guess based on ages of younger brothers). Son and heir of John Burley. He died on 23 May 1387 before he had time to sue for livery of his lands. He died "beyond the seas." His wife was named Beatrice, however, they had no children.
William Burley. Born about 1355 (age 33 in 1388). Heir to his brother Richard Burley. He died without issue on 22 December 1388.[3][4]
Isabel Burley (married Sir John de Hopton). Born say 1358 (placed in the gap between William and Roger).
Roger Burley. Born about 1361 (age 28 in 1389). Heir to both his brothers who both died without issue.
Death
Died: Between June and October 1383.
Date when he received money from the king in order to aid in a ransom, and date when a garter and robe were ordered to be prepared for his successor to his stall in Knights of the garter.
Burial: Church of the Black Friars in Hereford, Herefordshire, England.
Research notes
Disambiguation: He is not the same as the John Burley who married Alice Grey. That was a different John Burley.

There were two John Burleys who lived at the same time. One married Amicia Pembrugge, and the other Alice Grey. The Visitations contain several errors and should not be trusted for this family. It may take a little work to detangle and appropriately source the two Burley families.
I'll send a message to Maude in hopes that she's still on line. Then post on G2G in case anyone had already run into this line and has the info available. If nothing appears from either of those avenues, I guess I'll have to take a drive into one of the academic libraries and see if he's mentioned in any peerage directory. Mesnwhile, at the very least, we should mention in his bio that his claimed status has not been substantiated.
Could you please cite the source of this? ACCORDING TO WikiTree this is my. G-grandfather but I haven't seen anything in online peerage directories mentioning the man as a Knight or a Sheriff of Herefordshire. Where did you discover him?
