Joan d'Engaine, daughter of Sir John d'Engaine of Colne, Engaine, Essex and Laxton, Northamptonshire, by Joan, daughter and heiress of Sir Gilbert de Greinville, married (1) Walter Fitz Robert, son of Sir Robert Fitz Walter by Devorguille de Burgh, (2) Sir Adam de Welles (or Welle).[1]
Joan and Walter, married at Woodham, Essex, in 1286, had one son, Robert, who died young. Walter died in 1293.[1]
Joan and Adam de Welles, married in or before 1296, had three sons and three daughters:[1]
Sir Adam de Welles died September 1, 1311 and was buried in Greenfield Priory, Lincolnshire. His widow Joan died June 1, 1315. She was also buried in Greenfield Priory, Lincolnshire.[1]
