Biography
Thomas Kennedy was born on 12 February 1726 in Scotland, son of John Kennedy of Culzean 2nd Bt and Jane Douglas.[1]
Thomas was a soldier serving as an ensign in the 33rd Regiment of Foot then purchasing a captaincy in 1745 when he took part in the battle of Fontenoy.[1]
Thomas succeeded to the Baronetcy on the death of his father in 1744.[2]
Thomas eventually succeeded his fourth cousin John Kennedy as ninth Earl of Cassilis following a court case in the House of Lords[3][4]
Thomas died, unmarried, at Culzean on 30 November 1775.[4][2]
