Biography

• When Isham Landrum was born on 22 April 1780, in Chesterfield, Virginia, United States, his father, Lunsford Landrum, was 30 and his mother, Sarah Sallie Akin, was 25. He married Jemima Tannehill on 14 April 1815, in South Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Jefferson, Alabama, United States in 1833. He died on 13 February 1856, in Attala, Mississippi, United States, at the age of 75.

Family records state that 22 April 1780 is Isham's birthdate. The source is probably his daughter, Henrietta Landrum Dotson. This is more feasible than 1789 previously listed here, because Isham is on the tax list for 1803 in Lunenburg County, Virginia and he would have been at least 21, so 1803 minus 21=1783 makes 1780 a better year. This 1780 date would have put his father, Lunsford, in Chesterfield County Virginia at the time of his birth, and Lunsford does show up in the 1777 tax lists for Chesterfield. The Revolutionary War is still going on at this time and Lunsford doesn't appear in another county's tax list, Buckingham County until 1782.

An initial "W" for a middle names does not appear in any documents for this Isham. There is another Isham Landrum who married in Madison Kentucky in 1818, under the name Isham W Landrum and whose mother's maiden name was Watkins. These two Isham's have been confused with each other in the past.
