Research Notes

There is conflicting information about Achsah Lane, who was supposedly a child of Samuel Lane and Jane Corbin. A search of the primary sources at Ancestry, FamilySearch, and MyHeritage produced nothing for her. There are several individual family trees listing her, as well as profiles at FamilySearch and Geni. Names include Achsah, Ashsah, Actious, and Charity Achsah. Years of birth are 1721, 1733, 1736, 1738, 1746, and 1753. Years of death are 1750, 1792, 1798, 1827, and 1853. None of the trees contain a spouse for Achsah. None of the trees contain any sources other than other unsourced family trees. Neither Frederick Schultz,[1] Larry James,[2] nor Robert Barnes[3] list Achsah as a child of Samuel and Jane Lane.

The only verifiable Achsah Lane I could find was a daughter of Abraham Lane and Mary Baker and wife of Benjamin Franklin Bradford. This Achsah lived from 1819 to 1896 and was a great granddaughter of Samuel and Jane Lane. It's unlikely she'd be confused with one of their daughters.

The subject of this profile seems to be most often confused with Charity Lane, a daughter of Samuel and Jane Lane, who lived from about 1738 to 1798. It's not clear how the confusion arose.

This profile should probably be orphaned from the existing family, since it's not clear who this person represents, and there's no compelling evidence that Samuel and Jane Lane had a daughter named Achsah. Since there are no descendants, this action wouldn't affect any potential relatives.

If no one objects, I'll take action after a few days.

Lane-5217 and Lane-5205 appear to represent the same person because: There was no such person as Charity Achsah Lane. Double names were not used in that time and place, so this person is a mix of Charity Lane and Achsah Lane. Also, first daughter was likely Achsah born about 1736 - so birth in 1721 would be too soon. This profile should be merged into either the existing profile for Ashsah or for Charity; does not matter which. It is proposed here to merge into Ashsah, 1736-1792.

Please check dates. It is showing they died before birth. Probably a typo. Thank you.
