Amy (Aimee)Louise Pitt was born March 19, 1884. Amy Pitt ... She passed away July 4, 1970 at age 86 and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in the family plot in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. [1]
My Grandma Amy was born in Kidderminster England to Emily Rubley and John Pitt. Her parents were married in 1882. Emily's second husband John Constable was Amy's step-father. She married Edward Goodman at Wolverhampton April 4, 1904 and had a daughter Phoebe prior to immigrating on the Vessel 'Empress of Britain' and arriving with her daughter Phoebe on Aug. 17, 1906 landing in Quebec and moving on to join her husband Edward Sr. in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. She was the only Grandmother I knew and was a sweet little English lady who was a wonderful cook, a terrific Grandma - always cheerful and loving. She sang in the Baptist Church choir, played the piano, volunteered regularly at the Red Cross and was a midwife early on. All the family holidays were held at her home and she fed everyone really well. We were a large family back in the 50's and 60's but at this time there are only three of us left - Doris Dinsdale Mitchell (daughter of Phoebe) who is 90 and a spunky wonderful cousin, Michael Logan (son of Minerva & Stan) and myself. There are no Male Goodman's to carry on this line of the family unfortunately. I am the only child born to Edward Goodman and Elizabeth Brenton Goodman June 16, 1944.
Heritage: Pitt is of English Heritage and Rubley is of Swiss German Heritage
