Biography

Son of Guillermo Prietto and Lupe Escobedo. William was born in 1925. The first of his family to be born in the United States. He passed away in 1994. He grew up mainly in National City and started 9th grade at St. Augustine High in San Diego. The family moved to Needles about 1940 and Bill graduated from Needles High, Class of 1943. He entered the U.S. Navy immediately upon graduation. He was in the Navy from June of 1943 until February of 1946 -- "the duration, plus 6 months." After the war he went to college and graduated from UCLA in 1951. His second child was born the day he graduated. He was married for 44+ years and raised 5 children. Interment: Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles
