Note: Mable Safrit Kluttz, 103, of 6308 Kluttz Road, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Brian Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Hartsell Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Concord, with the Rev. Joseph A. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. Mrs. Kluttz was born Dec. 4, 1902, in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late William Alexander Safrit and the late Cordia Allice (Rimer) Safrit. Mrs. Kluttz was a life long member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church (formerly Prosperity Lutheran Church), where she was a member of W.E.L.C.A. and the Rimer Circle. She was a charter member of the Rimer Extension Homemaker Club, having joined at the age of 15. A homemaker, Mrs. Kluttz was an avid quilter until her eyes became quite dim. She also baked pies for her friends and the sick people of the community. Making homemade mints and cheese wafers, along with dill pickles was one of her favorite pastimes. Mrs. Kluttz was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Kluttz Sr., who died June 12, 1966. Survivors include her son, Frank Kluttz Jr. and wife, Doris, of Concord; daughter, Mildred (Kluttz) Culp and husband, Osco S., of Gold Hill; grandchildren, Sharon C. Barringer and husband, Robert, of Mount Pleasant, Beth C. Misenheiner and husband, Terry, of Albemarle; Kim K. Aldridge and husband, Tim, of Concord, Jill K. Bost and husband, Barry, of Concord, and Heith Kluttz and wife, Kelly, of Concord; great-grandchildren, Ryan Barringer and wife, Katrina, of Mount Pleasant, Shanda Apple and husband, Matthew, of Gold Hill, Brent Earnhardt and wife, Shelly, of Mount Pleasant, Jonathan Aldridge of Raleigh, Heather Aldridge of Concord, Tyler Kluttz of Concord, Trent Kluttz of Concord; great-great-grandchildren, Nolan and Knox Barringer of Mount Pleasant, Dalton Earnhardt of Mount Pleasant, Bryleigh Apple of Gold Hill; sister, Shirley S. Corl of Kannapolis; half-sister, Jeanette S. Haverty of Virginia Beach, Va.; half-brother, Bob Safrit and wife, Betty, of High Point; and half-sister's husband, Joe Kronenwetter of Raleigh. The family meeting place will be 6301 Kluttz Road, Concord. Memorials may be made to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Improvement Fund, 4500 Rimer Road, Concord, NC 28025.
