Martha Shaffer is not identified as an heir of Jacob Shaffer in the Deed records of Beaver County and Lawrence Counties Pennsylvania. The 100 acre farm of Jacob and Catherine Shaffer , part of lot 98 in the first Donation land district was divided into ten shares. The ten individuals receiving those shares are identified as "heir at law of the late Jacob Shaffer, deceased...". No mention of a Martha is made in any of these deeds which do identify 10 children: William, Mary Ann, James Paden, Elizabeth, John, Violet, Abraham, Jacob, Matthias and Conrad. There is a second Shaffer/Schaffer family who resided in North Beaver township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It is possible Martha belongs to this family. Also, unless Martha was a twin, her birth conflicts with that of Jacob Shaffer born 19 April 1815 which is confirmed by several sources.
