Biography

Daughter of Sir Mauger de St Aubyn and Isabella De PIDEKESWELL Wife of Sir Jordan FitzStephen de Haccombe Mother of Cecily Haccombe, Baroness l'Arcedekne, Alexander Cruwys (conjecture) Sister of Mauger De SANCTO ALBINO; Guy De Sancto-Albino; Stephen De SANCTO ALBINO and John De SANCTO ALBINO

Widow of Jordan Haccombe. She married Jordan in 1320 and Robert in 1329. Listed as the mother of Alexander Cruwys in pedigrees shown in Tom John's booklet re Crewes ancestors, but this is challenged by some. Her father was Mauger de St. Aubyn. Her mother was Isabella de Pidekswell but some pedigrees give Isabella Pidekswell as the mother.

Robert de Cruwes and Jordan le Vautort held Pydikwell, both married coheirs of the inheritance of Mauger de Sancto Albino. Robert was married to Isabella before 14 April 1326 [1] but there doesn't appear to have been any children "all of the St. Aubyn properties reverted Cecelia and her husband" [2] , [3]

" In 1332, soon after the death of his father, Robert de Cruwys and Isabella de St. Aubyn his wife settled both his and her estates on themselves" [4], [5]

"Isabel was dead by 1341 when an archpresbytery and chantry were founded at the family church of St. Blase in Haccombe. It was founded by Isabel’s son-in-law John Lercedekne, following the wishes of Sir Stephen de Haccombe. ... Robert must have married soon thereafter for a second time to an unknown wife who was the mother of his son and heir, Alexander de Cruwys." [6], [7], [8]
