Biography
When Mary Etta Turner was born on December 9, 1855, in Georgia, her father, James, was 30, and her mother, Frances, was 27. She married James Hugh Gaines (1856–1950) on December 10, 1874, in Elbert, Georgia.[1] Their known children are:
- Mary Frances "Mollie" Gaines (1875–1912)
- Sanford Boswell Gaines (1877–1959)[2]
- Laura Ophelia Gaines (1880–)
- Peter Pierce Gaines (1884–1972)
She died on January 2, 1894, in Elbert, Georgia, at the age of 38, and was buried in Elberton, Georgia.[3]
