CSA Widow's Pension: Widow filed for Widow's Pension on 31 May 1902 from Batesville, Independence Co., AR under the name: Lorenia Cullins. She stated her husband George W. Cullins served under the CSA unit in Company E, 17th AL Infantry and died during service on or about 12 Jan 1861 while in service of the CSA. Proof of Service by two soldiers living in Roanoke, Randolph Co., AL named B. F. & Thomas Weathers, who were witnesses, who knew him at the time of his death and served with Geo. W. Cullins in the same unit dated 13 Mar 1902. They stated George W. Cullins served in the CSA from Sep 9, 1861 to his death in Feb 1862. On 12 Aug 1902 a pension of $100 was approved for the widow's pension. Note from mgp: Not sure if this was a one time payout or if this is annually. The papers do not state.
