I have understood your questions and my answers are correctly recorded as read over to me. The word "discharged" was corrected as above in line 7 before signing.
- his x mark Henry Evans, Deponent
Attest:
- John Harris
- Isaac T. Sufphay
I was discharged in June 1865 a private.
I knew this James H. Jackson who was a member of the Home a year or two ago. I did not talk with the man about his service and do not know what regiment he served in nor what regiment he claimed to have served in. There were two Jacksons in Company H.
Henry Jackson from Ross County Ohio. He has been dead quite awhile and there was a John J. Jackson. I do not know where he was from nor what became of him. I do not recall any other Jacksons in the regiment and I do not know of any William Henry Jackson.
DEPOSITION F
Case of James H. Jackson, No. 922015
On this 2 day of May, 1906, at National Military Home, county of Montgomery State of Ohio, before me. W.T. Cathcart, a Special Examiner of the Bureau of Pensions, personally appeared Henry Evans, who, being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension, deposes and says:
I am 65 years of age. My post office address is as above c/o 10. A member of the Home for 11 years from Chillicothe Ohio, Ross County.
I enlisted there for service in a Massachusetts regiment in June 1863, I was assigned to Company K 55th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry but exchanged into Company H to accommodate a man who had a brother in that company.
