This is a photo of page one of a thirteen-page "narrative" written circa 1793 by, we surmise, Mary Robertson, daughter of Arthur Robertson, Chamberlain of the City of Glasgow.

This "narrative" along with a Grocery Book and a Medical Journal (around 20 odd pages of treatments etc) were found behind a partition in the manse of the United Presbyterian Church, Kirkcudbright during renovations in the 1990s They were all given to the Stewartry Museum in Kirkcudbright. A descendant of Arthur's said, "The people who found the cache could’ve just thrown it in the bin, luckily they didn’t."

It is probable this cache was placed in the manse by Arthur's granddaughter, Lindsey Margaret Robertson wife of the Reverend George Wood.
