The two people in the article are linked together. Mary (Carpenter) Brace, the first subject of the article, had a daughter, Nettie. Nettie married Samuel McCartney, who was the son of William McCartney who was the other subject of the article. Samuel McCartney deserted Nettie and their children. Nettie remarried to James Hoffman.
