Text reads:
- O'CONNELL.
- THE LATE MR. HENRY MORGAN.
- (From our own Correspondent.)
- The death of the late Mr. Henry Morgan, of "Lambeda," 0 'Connell, a- member of one of the first pioneering families of this district, marks the separation of another bright link from the fond chain of memory that binds us to the cherished past. In those stirring days of the last half century, when the spell of the gold fields and the glamor of the "vast green west" was attracting those hardy pioneers, whose scattered survivors are now fast vanishing from our midst, the parents and older members of Mr. Morgan's family took up their abode at "Lambede," to manage the property of Rev. Thos. Hassal (Church of England, Minister), whose estate embraced a large area of the surrounding district. In that picturesque old residence on the Fish river the late Mr. Morgan was born 63 years ago, and with the exception of a few years resided there till the shadows of death, closed over him, some few days ago. Our departed friend like countless others of that strenuous era, was:—
- A trusted man and true,
- Whose shoulder never left the wheel
- When there was work to do.
- Whose shoulder never left the wheel
- A trusted man and true,
- Throughout his long and useful life he was prominent in church affairs, and assisted in, various movements for the progress and advancement of the locality. Heartfelt sympathy in the loss of a devoted and affectionate husband and father is extended, in their bereavement, to the sorrowing wife and family — whose grief - is shared by a numerous circle — companions of youth and later age— who mourn the departure of a faithful friend.
