Charles Barnard or Charles Bartlett in 1830 US Census of Paris, Oneida, NY ?

Charles Barnard

in the 1830 United States Federal Census 1830 United States Federal Census

Report a problem - why is it a problem? Our Charles Bartlett lived in Paris by 1825 when they were in the NYS Census there, also in the 1835 NYS Census there, so I was pretty sure also there in 1830, but his name did not appear in either the index or in the census pages...

after looking a couple times, it occurred to me to match the family bible record with the census, so i figured out how old each family member would be in 1830 and looked for a match in the census... there was only one matching family, and the first name was a match as well, but the last name was different, Barnard for Bartlett?, so I decided the clerk made an error while copying the names (all done by hand in 1830s), thus I say this record is of the Charles Bartlett family....

The only possible match with sexes and ages with the Family Bible Record, just one female missing; she probably got married, Laura Bartlett Green married Nathan Green Jr. The Green name appears on maps in the 1850s to 1870s adding a clue to where the Bartletts may have lived.
