This is my original work, an illustration based on a surviving flag the regiment carried.
The 38th Georgia flag was captured several days after the Battle of Antietam in 1862. When it was returned to Georgia, the Museum of the Confederacy acquired it. For about 150 years, curators attributed the flag to the 31st Georgia, but after further research, around 2020, the flag was identified as the 38th Regiment.
